DR. CARLOS MARRERO-PRATS
Pain Management Specialist

Dr. Marrero-Prats was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After completing part of his training at the UPR-MSC Surgery Dept., he moved to New York City to complete a Burn and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the prestigious Stanley M. Levenson Burn Unit at Jacobi Medical Center, one of the busiest Burn Units in the United States. Dr. Marrero then moved to SUNY Upstate where he continued his medical training by completing residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. His last stop for training was in Miami, Florida, where he completed an ACGME accredited Interventional Pain Fellowship at the University of Miami.


Dr. Marrero is delighted to join Timothy D Groth MD PC with his extensive multi-dimensional training background. He plans to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to Pain Medicine. Dr. Marrero is mindful of the individual needs of his patients, understanding that everyone experiences pain differently, and therefore, will bring an individualized multidisciplinary approach for treating pain.


Additionally, Dr. Marrero has published several case reviews and currently has a book chapter under review for publication. He is a member of several societies, including the North American Neuromodulation Society, International Neuromodulation Society, and AAPM&R. His professional interests include failed back syndrome, painful diabetic neuropathy, and complex regional pain syndrome. He also specializes in musculoskeletal disorders, especially SI joint dysfunction, as well as chronic spinal pain. Outside of work, Dr. Marrero is an avid tennis player, enormous basketball fan and obsessed with historical events.
