LEE CASTRO, NP
Nurse Practitioner
Spanning the last decade, Lee has spent his career caring for patients when they have been at their most vulnerable. He started as a nurse in the Medical ICU at North Shore University Hospital. He went on to take part of a newly formed rapid response team at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and then as an international fixed-wing flight nurse with a focus on repatriating critically-ill patients from abroad. He sought to further his education and graduated at the top of his inaugural class at Hofstra University as a nurse practitioner. From there, Lee joined the Acute Lung Injury Center at LIJMC where he was part of an interdisciplinary team taking care of patients on ECMO.
Having experienced the COVID-19 pandemic as an ICU provider, he has shifted his focus to the outpatient arena where he has joined our team. His major focus is on post-ICU patients who have developed pain from the complexities of care received while in the critical care setting.
